Small Things October 17, 2014

14 The friendship of the Lord is for those who fear him,
and he makes known to them his covenant. Psalm 25:14 ESV

When I googled "names of God"  within 0.35 seconds there were "about 155,000,000 results".  Needless to say I did not visit each site or look at each image that was associated with my search.  But the few I did investigate had several names in common.  These included: El Shaddai, Yahweh, Jehovah, Jehovah Jireh, Elohim, Alpha and Omega, Messiah, and I Am.

However Psalm 25:14 reminds us of another important attribute of God.  Even though God is Ruler, Master, Savior, Creator, He is still our friend.  Friend, companion, confidant, intimate.

Yes, He parts the seas, calms the storms, and created the universe, but He also listens, comforts, and draws along side.

We should never lose our reverence or respect for God.  He is Great and Mighty.  But we can also invite Him to join us for a morning cup of coffee.

Prayers and supplication.  Cry out for comfort.  Plead for mercy.  But don't neglect conversation.  It's okay to just hang out with Yahweh.  Bask in His blessings.  Kick back in His company.

God is big enough for the universe, but personal enough for friendship.
