19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. Matthew 6:19,20 ESV
Yesterday Kristi's truck window was broken and her purse taken. Credit cards- gone. Debit card-gone. Driver's license-gone. Cash-gone. Eternal salvation-untouched. God's love for Kristi-unchanged. God's hand of blessing-unmoved.
Sure house lockes had to be changed. Credit cards cancelled. Police report filed. But at the end of the day, Kristi was safe and we are still "children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ,". Romans 8:16b/17a ESV
The event was disconcerting and troublesome. It was a hassle. An added cost. However our "treasures in heaven" have not been touched, tarnished, or tampered with. Jehovah-Raah still protects. Jehovah Jireh still provides. Jehovah Shammah is still there.
Thank you, God for Kristi's safety. Thank you, God for using this event to draw us closer to you. May we use this event as an opportunity to talk to others about You.
